Emma Watson Confirmed as Belle in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast Film
After months of speculation of Kristen Stewart taking the lead role in Disney’s reboot of Beauty & the Beast, Emma Watson has been confirmed as Belle. Last year Emma was slated as the top billing for a Guillermo del Toro version to be produced by Warner Bothers until he moved on to work on other projects. del Toro previously stated, “”It’s a movie that you have to make in the next few years for Emma to be perfect for the part. I think she is the perfect character to do that movie.” Apparently, Disney and new producer Bill Condon agree with his sentiment.
This morning the former Harry Potter star revealed the news on her Facebook account, “I’m finally able to tell you… that I will be playing Belle in Disney’s new live-action Beauty and the Beast! It was such a big part of my growing up, it almost feels surreal that I’ll get to dance to ‘Be Our Guest’ and sing ‘Something There’. My six year old self is on the ceiling – heart bursting. Time to start some singing lessons. I can’t wait for you to see it. Emma xx” Production is expected to be underway soon with a release targeted for sometime in 2016. No other actors have been announced as of yet.
