One question that has been on many people’s minds since the closing of Maelstrom and the announcement that is will be replaced by a Frozen themed ride is: Is an Arendelle pavilion coming to Epcot? Will Norway be replaced by an imaginary country? Well, it is highly doubtful that Walt Disney Imagineering would convert an entire country pavilion for the sake of Frozen, but plans filed with the South Florida Water Management Disctrict today show that WDI will in fact be expanding the current Norway pavilion. Or more properly, the green space between the Mexico and Norway pavilions will converted into a Frozen meet and greet area.

According to the documents filed a 1.08 acre area within the area between the Norway and Mexico attractions at EPCOT will be cleared to allow “construction of a 13,000 +/- sf building that will house a Disney guest attraction and a women’s restroom; construction of a 2,000 sf modular type building to replace a similar building demolished for the project; construction of two small parking lots that have a total of 18 parking spaces; relocation of piping and mechanical equipment associated with a beverage dispensing kiosk; modification and addition of sidewalks and planters; new underground utilities; modification to the existing restroom in the Norway attraction building.” The front entry will be approximately where the current margarita kiosk is located with a rock wall feature with seating area towards the Norway side.
